Siam Casa Thai in Irwindale, CA

Recently, I had the chance to dine at Siam Casa in Irwindale, California. Having heard mixed reviews, I decided to check out the spot for myself, ordering two dishes—Pad See Ew and fried calamari, along with a classic Thai tea. Let’s start with the calamari. Unfortunately, it was a big miss. The calamari lacked any real flavor and had a chewy texture that made it difficult to enjoy. It was disappointing, especially for a dish that usually shines with its crispy exterior and tender interior. On the upside, the Pad See Ew was a bit of a redemption. While it was slightly on the dry side, the flavors were decent. The savory soy sauce balanced well with the tender noodles and vegetables, making it an acceptable dish but not necessarily something I’d rush back for. As for the Thai tea, it was another letdown. The tea was clearly pre-made, and that affected its flavor—it lacked the rich, creamy sweetness I expect from a good Thai tea. It was bland and did nothing to elevate the meal. All in all, while the Pad See Ew was the highlight, the overall experience at Siam Casa didn’t meet my expectations. With underwhelming appetizers and drinks, I don’t see myself returning anytime soon.
